Industries We Serve

Palletising and end-of-line automation for manufacturers across British industry — whatever your product, if it goes on a pallet, Granta can handle it.

Granta Automation has designed, built, installed and supported palletising systems across a wide range of industries since 2006, giving it one of the largest palletiser install bases in the UK and Ireland. As a KUKA Platinum partner and a Yaskawa partner, Granta palletises — and depalletises — an enormous variety of products, from delicate retail packs to heavy industrial sacks, using cobot, compact, modular and static systems. Below are the sectors Granta serves, and the kinds of products handled in each.

Food and beverage palletising

Food and beverage is Granta’s largest sector. Granta palletises cartons, cases, trays, bottles, cans, jars, bags and sacks across ambient, chilled and frozen production — with hygienic, BRC-aware system design and fast, tool-free changeovers between products. Typical products include biscuits and snacks, crisps, cereal and snack bars, dried fruit, nuts and seeds, flour and gluten-free oats, bakery ingredients and dough, spreadable cheese and dairy ingredients, jams and preserves, sea salt, eggs, poultry and prepared foods, frozen and potato products, chocolate, fruit juices, soft drinks, bottled water and glass bottles. Cobot, compact, modular and static palletisers all feature here, matched to line speed and available space.

Chemical palletising

Granta palletises chemical products in bags, drums, tubs, bottles and cartons, with system and gripper design suited to the weight and handling needs of each. Typical products include adhesives, glues and sealants, household and industrial cleaning products, oils and lubricants, AdBlue and urea solutions, and agricultural and industrial chemicals. Systems are designed with the appropriate safety, guarding and compliance for chemical production environments.

Distribution, haulage and container unloading

Granta is a UK specialist in automated container unloading. A boom conveyor extends into the shipping container, product is loaded onto it and conveyed to the palletising cell, and boxes are measured and stacked automatically — removing one of the most labour-intensive manual jobs in distribution. This is ideal for import centres, distribution centres and haulage operations handling general merchandise and mixed-SKU containers.

Agriculture and animal feed palletising

Granta palletises bagged and sacked products with robust, dedicated bag grippers built for heavy, repetitive handling. Typical products include animal feed, pet food, wild bird and cage-bird food, seed, and aggregates. Systems remove the manual lifting of 25 kg sacks, protecting staff from repetitive strain injury while increasing throughput.

Construction products palletising

Granta palletises heavy and awkward construction and building products, matching gripper and stack pattern to the product. Typical products include fire-protection sealants, silicones and batts, refractory materials, road-marking materials, construction fixings and general building products — exactly the kind of heavy items that most benefit from having the manual handling designed out.

Pharmaceutical and medical palletising

Granta delivers palletising for pharmaceutical and medical products, with the care, documentation and compliance those sectors demand. Systems are designed for controlled environments and consistent, traceable end-of-line handling.

Packaging manufacturing palletising

Granta palletises the output of packaging manufacturers — printed cartonboard sleeves, cartons, containers and packaging components — often keeping pace with several production lines from a single system, at any speed.

Automotive palletising

Granta palletises automotive products including engine oils, lubricants and car-care products, in bottles, cartons and packs, with systems built for reliable high-throughput running.

Other manufacturing

Beyond these core sectors, Granta palletises a wide range of other manufactured products, from candles and home fragrance to technical fibres and specialist goods. The same easy-programming systems adapt to almost any product that needs stacking on a pallet.
