Work on management and company strategy, providing mentoring for management staff and technical consultancy to our engineers.

It’s my baby, I have always been fascinated by automation and I love sharing my passion to help others achieve.

A team of dedicated, experienced, highly capable, practical, hands-on engineers to reliably solve their tricky automation problems.

Stepping back and letting the next generation make it fly!

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

I work on business strategy and improvements, and assist our team leaders with challenges and improvements. I also work closely alongside the sales and marketing teams supporting them as necessary.

Having a great team to work with and a passion for automation. I'm also passionate about helping companies grow and achieve with automation.


What is the main benefit you feel you can bring to Granta customers?

Continue building the structure and culture of the company so we always bring our customers the best, both in customer support and technology.

Building a brand and team culture that has become known and trusted at the forefront of the UK automation industry.

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

Visit customers to look at their potential needs for automation and then work back at the office with the engineers to come up with beneficial automation solutions for these customers.

 

What makes you continue to work at Granta?

Great place to work. A brilliant team spirit pervades this highly talented group of people.


What is the main benefit you feel you can bring to Granta customers?

I have a good few years of experience in designing and working with factory automation systems. From hands on install of equipment and wiring of control panels as soon as I started work (lots of years ago!) through to developing large multi robot systems for large manufacturers, I’ve seen a fair variety of situations and solutions.


What was your biggest success at Granta?

Can’t pinpoint it to one particular event. It feels great when you hear a satisfied customer reporting back on the benefits of their new automation system we have provided. – That feels like success!

None whatsoever! Im the guy who (politely) requests payment so customers don’t like talking to me. Suppliers, on the other hand are always very keen to speak...

Improving transparency for the management team through much faster financial reporting.

What was your biggest success at Granta?

Creating the World’s first automation payback and finance calculator that gives our clients crystal clear data they can base their business decisions on.

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

My days vary from being in the office writing up proposals and assisting clients with the initial stages of their automation requirements, through to being out on the road visiting new and existing clients.

Being part of a forward thinking team that has no growth boundaries.


What is the main benefit you feel you can bring to Granta customers?

Having the ability to connect our clients with the some of the top consultative engineering expertise in the UK. I am also very passionate about giving our clients an outstanding customer journey, from the initial enquiry, right through to the completion of the project and support thereafter.

Bringing in multiple orders and working with the team to help build the stepping stones for Granta being known and trusted at the forefront of the UK’s automation industry.

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

A combination of sales and engineering based activities. I’m also responsible for the safety and compliance of the equipment we ship.

 

What makes you continue to work at Granta?

We have a good team, we’re forward thinking and we’re working in an industry that is growing fast.


What is the main benefit you feel you can bring to Granta customers?

There is a lot of information about digitalisation and automation systems out there. I can help you distil it down to the bits that are relevant to you if you’re struggling to parse it all.


What was your biggest success at Granta?

I’ve worked in the engineering department for several years and helped set up a lot of the systems and engineering standards. It’s nice to see the guys delivering projects on the basis of what we learned via our continuous review and improvement methodology.

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

Managing the projects and the engineers working on them to ensure that customer expectations are met in terms of project scope and delivery expectations. I also spend about half my time on operational development to continuously improve our processes and productivity.

 

What makes you continue to work at Granta?

There is a great team culture and every day brings a new challenge to solve and another opportunity to improve through automation.


What is the main benefit you feel you can bring to Granta customers?

Reliable communication link between the customers’ expectations and bringing these expectations into reality.


What was your biggest success at Granta?

The biggest success was developing and introducing a project management system to give visibility and accountability around every detail of every projects carried out here.

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

There are no average days! My role is centred on operations, basically getting things done. Whether it be purchasing, goods in, parts despatch, overseeing the workshop and parts store, preparing & printing presentations for the sales team or chasing suppliers for deliveries, no two of my days are identical. My varied daily tasks and challenges make life interesting. However, one thing never changes: tea!

 

What makes you continue to work at Granta?

Great people, great team, great culture, it’s a great place to be where successes are shared across the company and where a sense of humour is absolutely essential! Providing for my special other half and 3 little mouths is also a constant incentive to get out of bed each morning.


What is the main benefit you feel you can bring to Granta customers?

Are there any average customers? Direct benefit to any customers from my role is rather obscure and probably amounts to avoiding or finding solutions to problems because even a small missing component or part could let a customer down if their project is delayed.


What was your biggest success at Granta?

Focusing on my current job role has meant more personal alignment with the mission and vision of the whole team

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

Depending on the work package, from start to finish research and development, design mechanical, electrical and final install.

Every day brings something different, no one day is ever the same, and the company and staff are great to work with.

Quality, experience and willingness to finish the project in hand.

Automation Engineer - Lead Mechanical Innovation and Installation Specialist

 

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

The work is immensely varied, from building bespoke machinery, integration, installation, brainstorming new ideas and concepts, research, prototyping and experimentation. But of course, there are also some mundane things that must be done, forms to fill in, facilities to maintain, logistics, and procedures to follow.

 

What makes you continue to work at Granta?

I would like to remain at GRANTA for many reasons. It is about engineering, but also about people. It is about survival, keeping ahead in the game. It is about exploiting technology to achieve a specific result, rather than for its own sake.


What is the main benefit you feel you can bring to Granta customers?

Forty-five years working with materials and engineering. Techniques evolved from our Victorian heritage, but timeless principles still finding a vital place in the current technological revolution.


What was your biggest success at Granta?

I carried out an objective mechanical design review for a client who was developing a complex and challenging pharmaceutical appliance. The client wrote back to Granta afterwards thanking me for being helpful, and very pleased with the professionalism of the advice and subsequent report.

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

I am usually drawing bespoke machinery or electrical plans on CAD and contacting various suppliers to source the most suitable components for building these projects.

What do you do on your average day at Granta?

Most of my day is spent programming PLCs, HMIs or doing electrical design. I also help with electrical installation or commissioning, if needed.

 

What makes you continue to work at Granta?

The company has great work culture and is very innovative and forward thinking. It never gets boring and you get to do great things.


What is the main benefit you feel you can bring to Granta customers?

I have worked in different roles in the automation field, but my main strength is programming. Hopefully, I can create systems that are both flexible and comfortable to use for our customers.


What was your biggest success at Granta?

To date, it is commissioning and startup of a bottling system.
